FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT LAST?
This is different for everyone. Some people attend therapy for a short time (several weeks to several months) to get support for a specific issue, while others choose long-term therapy for ongoing personal growth and development. I will work with you to identify your individual treatment goals and discuss your timeline for achieving them.
HOW OFTEN DO THERAPY SESSIONS OCCUR?
I recommend attending therapy once per week. This allows time between sessions for passive processing and practicing new skills. It is also frequent enough to support sustained progress towards treatment goals. In certain circumstances - such as a crisis - more frequent visits may be recommended.
DO YOU ACCEPT MEDICARE?
I am an Opted-Out provider. This means I am not contracted with Medicare. Medicare will not reimburse you for the cost of my services. If you are a Medicare beneficiary, please inform your therapist at the beginning of treatment. We will need to enter into a private contract for therapy services in order for me to treat you.
HOW DO YOU DO EMDR VIRTUALLY?
There are many ways to do EMDR virtually that are just as effective as doing it in-person. Often, I use the bilateralstimulation.io website to remotely control my clients' headphones for auditory bilateral stimulation (BLS). Other times, I may engage the client in tapping on different parts of their body or following my "BLS wand" with their eyes. I learned to do EMDR partially virtually during COVID, and can attest that virtual EMDR works!
